Insitekaltim,Samarinda – Sejak masa Rasulullah SAW hingga saat ini, wakaf telah menjadi bagian penting dari kehidupan umat Islam. Ketua Dewan Pengawas Syariah Lazis Assalam Fil Alamin Anang Riqza Masyhadi mengungkapkan bahwa wakaf bukan hanya untuk pembangunan fisik seperti masjid dan sekolah, tetapi juga berperan penting dalam pengembangan sumber daya manusia (SDM).
Hal ini disampaikannya dalam acara Talk Show “Membangun Peradaban Program Dakwah Pengiriman Dai Ke Wilayah 3T dan Program Pendidikan Dengan Memanfaatkan Instrumen Zakat dan Wakaf”, Jumat (13/9/2024).
“Sejak zaman Rasulullah SAW, wakaf telah digunakan untuk mendirikan dapur umum, klinik darurat saat perang, pendidikan, dan rumah ibadah. Wakaf terus eksis dan berperan dalam kehidupan umat Islam selama 14 abad,” ujar Anang.
Ia mencontohkan Universitas Al Azhar di Kairo, Mesir, yang telah bertahan lebih dari 1.088 tahun dengan dukungan dana wakaf. Saat ini, universitas tersebut menampung sekitar 470.000 mahasiswa, termasuk di antaranya 40.000 mahasiswa asing, dengan 11.000 di antaranya dari Indonesia.
Semua mahasiswa mendapatkan pendidikan gratis, asrama, makan, hingga uang jajan yang semuanya didanai dari wakaf.
“Wakaf bukan hanya membangun peradaban fisik seperti masjid atau rumah sakit, tetapi juga membangun manusia, meningkatkan SDM yang berkontribusi pada peradaban Islam,” tambahnya.
Menurut Anang, ini adalah bentuk nyata bagaimana wakaf mendukung pilar-pilar peradaban Islam yang tidak hanya fokus pada fisik, tetapi juga manusia. Wakaf terbukti mampu mempertahankan eksistensi pendidikan Islam dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan umat Islam hingga hari ini.
Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan wakaf yang tepat dapat menghasilkan SDM berkualitas yang turut serta membangun peradaban umat.
